Tallinn Downtown Elementary School

Tallinn Downtown Elementary School (Tallinna Kesklinna Põhikool) is located in the heart
of Tallinn, nestled between the historic Old Town and the city`s modern center. Established in
2013 by the Tallinn Secondary School of Science community, the school was founded to
meet the growing demand for a strong, traditionally science-oriented education in Estonia,
sharing its core values and educational aspirations.

As a private school, Tallinna Kesklinna Põhikool is home to approximately 350 students from
grades 1 to 9. True to our roots, a strong emphasis is placed on STEAM subjects, equipping
students with the skills and knowledge to seamlessly transition into any secondary or
vocational school of their choice.

Our mission is to provide high-quality education within a nurturing and supportive learning
environment. Our vision is to be an inspiring force in Estonian education, fostering a kind yet
ambitious atmosphere that helps students develop into well-rounded, healthy individuals. As
a forward-thinking institution, we are committed to building essential 21st-century skills. We
encourage self-reflection and personal growth, guiding students to set goals and cultivate
self-awareness across all aspects of life—learning, hobbies, nutrition, rest, sleep, family time,
and healthy relationships.

At Tallinn Downtown Elementary School, we uphold the values of courage, ambition,
kindness, and respect. We embrace curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on learning,
recognizing that mistakes are essential stepping stones in the learning process. Through hard
work and determination, we strive for excellence while maintaining a culture of authenticity,
empathy, and mutual trust. We value teamwork, respect the time and contributions of others,
and remain deeply committed to our school community.
